What an incredible aircraft! With her distinctive white socks and white banner across the top, she was unmistakably a 2
nd platoon aircraft. Powered by a robust T53-L-13 turboshaft engine, she was a force to be reckoned with. Although I crewed several ships, 393 was my primary ride. I logged approximately 754 hours on 393, performing dust-off missions, resupply runs, and primarily combat assaults during my tours of duty. Despite sustaining some damage, she always brought her crew back safely to Tuy Hoa after every mission. She was never red X'ed and was always mission-ready, flying almost every day. When on the ground, she was stationed in revetment ONE at Tuy Hoa. Unfortunately, records show she was transferred to the South Vietnamese Air Force and remained in Vietnam after our unit stood down.
